Harelson has proven to be a top-notch treasurer
I encourage voters to consider the qualifications of the two
Josephine County treasurer candidates. One has actually done
the job for over 11 years. The other candidate has not. One
candidate is an experienced certified public accountant, and the
other candidate is not. Who do you want managing and
accounting for over $85 million in public funds?
One candidate has been the budget officer for a county, and
the other candidate has not. One candidate has built a well
trained and highly effective treasury and tax collection staff to
serve the public. What has the other candidate done?
One candidate could have been just a successful treasurer for
the last 11 years without attempting to improve the overall
quality of county government. This would have been the easy
road.
John Harelson has been willing to step up. Harelson has been
willing to assert a point of view that he believes represents the
public's best interests. This higher profile is a risk for him.
Harelson, because of his hard work, experience and education,
has provided the citizens of Josephine County added value to
the position of county treasurer. What has the other candidate
done?
I support Harelson and encourage you to support him, too.
